About Archaeological Museum of Rhodes (Hospital of the Knights)

This museum is housed in a monumental building that was constructed 1440-89 as a Hospital of the Knights of Saint-John and can be visited with the 10 Euro combined ticket that includes the Palace (Kastello) of the Grand Master of Knights.

The inner courtyard has various gravestones and funeral altars as well as several rooms containing various collections of archeological artifacts from various parts of Rhodes and the neighboring islands. These collections include ancient burial finds (from the 9th-4th century B.C.), sculptures (from the classical, Hellenistic and Roman period), mosaic floors, funerary slabs from the Knights period, etc.

There are also important exhibits including what is known as the Venus of Rhodes - a Hellenistic statue of Aphrodite bathing.

The area on the upper floor where the hospital beds were actually located offers a large and high-ceiling hall with columns and minimal decoration - a must look before heading to the very top where you find some vegetation also.

Almost all the exhibits have an information board in both Greek and English.
