About Saint Catherine's Hospice

The hospice was built in 1391 as a guesthouse of the Order for distinguished visitors, but severely damaged in Ottoman attacks in 1480. Thereafter, a hospice was operated here by the Italian group of the Order. After the departure of the knights, poor people lived here. In 1986, at the beginning of the renovation, 16 families still lived in the rundown building.
From the living style of the then guests testify a reconstructed bedroom, the large kitchen and the guest room. There are also sickrooms and dormitories in the hospice. Some historical rooms are true to the original and can be visited free of charge.
