About Hafiz Ahmed Agha Library

Hafiz Ahmed Agha Library is a unique witness. Little more than two centuries this library was established by Hafiz Ahmed Agha. More than eight hundred books mostly in Arabic describing different aspects of holy Kuran and life late eighteen century. Unfortunately, no books could be seen, but it still gives you an idea about this unique treasure. It is just in front of the Jame'. Located in two rooms- the first one is open with photo copies of some of these books. The second room which contains the books- is closed. You can see around the library stones of tombs with Ottoman writings of prominent figures in Rhodes during the Ottoman Rule. If you are interested in Rhodes life during that period- Hafiz Ahmed Agha library is the right place to visit. It may be worthy to arrange with the authority for closer idea of the second room- if possible.
